Targeson Ultrasound Contrast Agents

Targeson, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets contrast agents for molecular ultrasound imaging in research applications.

Contrast ultrasound imaging is emerging as an effective imaging technique in basic science and the drug discovery process. This imaging method is highly specific, portable, and permits anatomical and functional imaging in real time. Targeted molecular imaging provides a convenient and noninvasive technique for characterizing biological processes in vivo and monitoring responses to therapeutic interventions.

Targeson’s technology encompasses gas-filled microscopic spheres coated with specific targeting ligands that adhere to molecular markers of disease. Ultrasound imaging is then used to detect the targeted agents, to identify and quantify the disease. This technique can be used to diagnose and stage disease, and monitor response to therapy in the research and drug discovery settings.
